Chiropractic Serves As Natural Solution for Pain Management

chiropractic services for pain managementUsing pain medication or undergoing invasive surgery in an effort to acquire relief from chronic pain should be avoided whenever possible. After all, surgery can have life-long implications and poorly affect a person’s life from the time of the surgery. In addition, individuals can easily become addicted to pain medication. Thankfully, there is an alternative to the aforementioned practices; that being chiropractic care.

What does chiropractic care consist of?

Chiropractic care involves adjustments of the spine, which is referred to as spinal manipulation. In addition to a physical examination, X-rays are also often used to identify the problem within the spine or discover what is causing the pain being experienced.

How many visits does it take to eliminate pain?

Most of the time, effective pain management that utilizes chiropractic care requires repeat visits on regular intervals. This means a one-time adjustment will not fully alleviate an individual’s pain condition. Instead, it takes several sessions to effectively reduce or eliminate pain. In other words, getting an adjustment from a chiropractor must become part of an individual’s routine, the length of which is dependent on each patient’s needs.

Usually, early treatment sessions require several weeks of treatment and consist of two or three visits a week. Once an individual begins to notice a positive change in the pain they are experiencing, sessions will be reduced to once a week. After the pain is effectively eliminated through chiropractic care, the need for multiple sessions is reduced and an individual can begin going several months in between treatments.

Types of conditions chiropractic care is most effective treating:

•    Subacute back pain: this type of pain is present for three months or less
•    Flare-ups or long-term back pain
•    Neck pain

Although going to a chiropractor for regular treatments are most effective at treating the above conditions, it is also applicable for the following conditions:

•    Pinched nerves or muscle spasms
•    Headaches
•    Leg & arm pain
•    Carpal tunnel syndrome
•    Pinched nerves and muscle spasms
