Our Santa Barbara Chiropractors Offer Pain Relief Rehabilitation, and More
With more than 70 years of combined experience, our four Santa Barbara chiropractors at Advanced Chiropractic Group have the knowledge, compassion, and training to treat a great variety of our patients' needs. Whether you require rehabilitation from an automobile accident, treatment for lower back pain, neck pain, headaches or sciatica, Dr. Michael S. York, Dr. James A. Cochran, and Dr. Larson are at your service.
Meet the Doctors: Chiropractors with Experience Treating Sciatica and Lower Back Pain
All four of our doctors have extensive experience in traditional treatments, such as spinal manipulation for sciatica, headaches and other issues, and they also use advanced procedures such as the Activator Method, which is a low-force technique for rehabilitation, sciatica, back, neck and extremity pain treatment.
Dr. York graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College in 1983 after serving in the US Army as a tank commander and armor instructor. Successful spinal treatment for his own automobile accident injury and lifelong headaches prompted him to enter the chiropractic field. Outside of the office, Dr. York is a member of the Community Covenant Church, a devoted sports fan, and a gentleman chicken farmer. When he’s not adjusting patients, you can find him lounging in his backyard with his dog Charlie, watching his chickens. He's been happily married to Cydney Miller, a retired Montessori teacher, for 38 years. Their son, Matt, is a Social Studies Teacher and the Boys' Soccer Coach at Dos Pueblos High School. He and his wife, Emily, have a one-year-old son, named Blake, who's naturally the focus of the family. Their daughter, Caitlin, is living in Harlem, working at the New Jersey Public Defenders Office as a Trial Lawyer.
A 1992 graduate of Palmer College West, Dr. Cochran is an avid mountain biker and kayaker. His wife of fourteen years, Nancy Earle, is an artist, massage therapist, and founder of JAMS Music School, a non-profit school serving at-risk youth and underprivileged children in Santa Barbara County. Dr. Cochran is on the JAMS board of directors and a member of the Santa Barbara Toastmasters and Kalyra Winery.
Dr. Larson graduated with academic and clinical honors from Life Chiropractic College West in 2015. He is a native of the Sacramento foothills and first moved to Santa Barbara to attend UCSB, where he graduated with a BA in Communication in 2011. He returned to Santa Barbara in 2015 as a doctor at Advanced Chiropractic Group. In five short years, he’s taken over as the owner of the practice and became involved with the community here. Dr. Larson provides health and wellness to our local community by empowering our patients with knowledge about diet, exercise, and the function of the human body. Some of his past hobbies included motocross and wrestling, but now he’s a devoted family-man who loves to watching movies, golfing, and fishing. He and his wife Kelsey, a local schoolteacher at Adams Elementary, are proud parents to 1-year-old Ava Rose.
Our Chiropractors Are Involved in the Community
Although our chiropractors maintain a thriving practice, they still make it a priority to give back to and stay involved in the community.
Dr. York participates in ongoing men's fellowship youth mentoring programs and local sports officiating. He and his wife are concerned about environmental changes and are considering future Peace Corps volunteering.
Dr. Cochran regularly participates in and donates his services to a number of annual events. They include the Barbara Ireland Breast Cancer Walk, Carpinteria Triathlon, McConnel's Ice Cream Run, and the Avon Breast Cancer Walk.
